ABOUT
International Comparison of Producer Prices for Milk
The EDF-ZuivelNL International Milk Price Comparison encompasses milk prices obtained from the average prices paid to dairy producers by sixteen large European dairies. The producer prices of this comparison comprise bonus payments for both volume and quality of milk deliveries. Additional bonus payments are provided for seasonality, specific milk streams, sustainability as well as annual supplementary payments are included in the annual prices.
Furthermore, this comparison also incorporates farm gate milk prices from the USA and New Zealand. In the case of the USA, the prices are determined by referencing the USDA class III price. For New Zealand, the basis for calculation is derived from Fonterra’s pricing, as Fonterra stands as the world’s leading dairy exporter.

MILK PRICE REVIEW NOVEMBER 2025
Milk Market Update
Milk Prices Continue to Fall – Supply Remains Strong
Milk prices in Europe kept declining in November 2025. The average advance price dropped to €44.57 per 100 kg, marking the fifth monthly decrease and sitting 11% below last year’s level. Only a few countries, such as Spain, France, and Finland, bucked the trend.
A key driver is the strong global milk supply.
EU production surged again in October, up 5.3%, with strong growth in Western Europe and Poland.
Other major exporters also expanded output: the US (+3.7%), New Zealand (+2%), Argentina (+9.4%), and Uruguay (+2.6%).
Australia remained the exception with a decline.
Dairy Markets Under Pressure
Butter prices have fallen sharply since July and only stabilized late December. High milk volumes mean high butter stocks and a weak market.
Cream prices also stayed under pressure.
Skimmed milk powder dropped below €200 in December before stabilizing as buyers returned. Europe remains competitive globally, but the short term outlook is still uncertain.
Market Snapshot
Most forecasts point to continued price pressure in early 2026 due to high global milk supply, followed by a possible recovery later in the year if production slows. Oversupply remains the dominant factor, but signs of stabilization and selective rebounds (e.g., GDT early 2026) are emerging.
