Furthermore, this comparison also incorporates farm gate milk prices from the USA and New Zealand. In the case of the USA, the prices are determined by referencing the USDA class III price. MILK PRICE REVIEW FEBRUARY 2026
Global Dairy Market Update: Falling Milk Prices Amid Strong Supply Growth and Mixed Product Trends
The average standard milk price has been declining since July 2025. In February 2026, advance milk prices averaged €41.50 per 100 kg of standard milk, down €1.04 from January (-2.4%) and nearly 19% below February 2025.
Milk prices across Europe are generally trending downward, with only a few processors showing stability. In contrast, U.S. milk prices have increased, supported by higher fat values.
Milk supply growth remains strong globally. EU deliveries rose by 4.8% in January, with significant increases in Belgium, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Poland, as well as a recovery in Ireland. Among major exporters, growth continued in New Zealand (+2%), Australia (+1.5%), Argentina (+9.7%), Uruguay (+7.5%), and the United States (+3.4%). Overall, output from major exporting regions, including the EU, was up 4.1% year-on-year in January 2026.
Butter markets have recently weakened after a brief price recovery above €400, as demand softened and buyers increasingly covered their needs for the coming quarters. High milk supply continues to support production, while European butter faces stronger competition from lower-priced U.S. exports.
Skimmed milk powder markets have strengthened since January. Despite higher supply, prices have risen due to strong demand. Limited export availability from Oceania and the U.S. has boosted demand for competitively priced European powder.
